                          Bloodbourne Pathogens

 

Welcome to Medical Career Training Institute, Inc. training on bloodborne pathogens.

This 2 hour training course is intended for students who have the potential to be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious material. It is designed to provide a basic understanding of bloodborne pathogens, common modes of transmission, and methods of preventing exposure.

This training is introductory in nature. If your job responsibilities involve occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens you will need additional training that is specific to your work environment and work practices. You will also need to be given the opportunity to ask questions of the person conducting the training session. Students will receive a completion certification from the Academy.

Fee for course $50 Includes Exam,  Training Packet and Certification.

Requirements are need Picture ID.

Training Objectives:

The objectives of this training are:

  1. Define "bloodborne pathogen", and give an example
  2. Briefly explain what is meant by the term "Universal Precautions"
  3. Recognize the sign and/or label that indicates a bloodborne pathogen hazard
  4. Give an example of a way in which a bloodborne pathogen can be transmitted from one person to another in the workplace
  5. Differentiate between an "engineering control" and a "work practice control"
